NOBARTV NEWS Ramadan Fasting Schedule 1446 H – Muslims around the world, including Indonesia, are preparing to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1446 Hijriah. This month full of blessings and forgiveness is always awaited every year. As the month of Ramadan approaches, the question of how many days until the start of fasting in 2025 has become a widely discussed topic.
Estimated Start of Ramadan 2025 Based on Hisab and Rukyat Methods
Based on the hisab method used by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) and Muhammadiyah, the beginning of Ramadan 1446 Hijriah is estimated to fall on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Muhammadiyah has determined the beginning of Ramadan using the Wujudul Hilal hisab method which is based on astronomical calculations. Meanwhile, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and the government through Kemenag will wait for the results of rukyatul hilal before setting an official date. Rukyatul hilal is a method of direct observation of the crescent moon to determine the beginning of the Hijriah month. If the crescent moon is not visible, then the month of Shaban will be rounded up to 30 days. The following is an estimated schedule for the beginning of Ramadan 1446 H based on various methods:
Organization | 1st of Ramadan 1446 H | Determination Method |
---|---|---|
Ministry of Religion | March 1, 2025 (estimate) | Hisab & Rukyat |
Muhammadiyah | March 1, 2025 | Calculation of the Crescent Moon |
Nahdlatul Ulama | Not Yet Determined | Rukyat (Hilal Observation) |
Based on these calculations, if calculated from Tuesday, January 28, 2025, then Ramadan 2025 will start in 32 days.
Eid al-Fitr 2025 Date Predictions and Differences
In addition to determining the beginning of Ramadan, Muhammadiyah has also determined Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri. Based on the Single Global Hijri Calendar (KHGT), Eid al-Fitr is predicted to fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religion estimates that Eid al-Fitr will fall on March 31 or April 1, 2025, depending on the results of rukyatul hilal. This difference is due to the different methods used in determining the beginning of the Hijri month. Here is a comparison of the predictions for Eid al-Fitr 1446 H:
Organization | Eid al-Fitr 1446 H Date | Determination Method |
Ministry of Religion | 31 March – 1 April 2025 | Hisab & Rukyat |
Muhammadiyah | March 30, 2025 | Calculation of the Crescent Moon |
Nahdlatul Ulama | Not Yet Determined | Rukyat (Hilal Observation) |
Analysis of the Differences between Hisab and Rukyat Methods
Differences in determining the beginning of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are common every year. The hisab method uses astronomical calculations to determine when the new moon appears, while the rukyat method prioritizes direct observation carried out at sunset on 29 Shaban.
If the crescent moon is seen, then the next day is designated as the 1st of Ramadan. If not, the month of Shaban will be completed to 30 days. Therefore, the public is advised to wait for an official decision from the government to ensure the start of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
School Holiday Schedule During Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2025
Based on the Joint Circular of the three ministers, students will get special holidays during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr to provide an opportunity to perform worship and celebrate the holidays with family. Here is the school holiday schedule during Ramadan 2025:
Types of Holidays | Date |
Early Fasting Holiday | February 27 – March 5, 2025 |

Ramadan fasting 1446 H is estimated to begin on March 1, 2025 based on the hisab method used by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Muhammadiyah. However, the final decision will still await the results of the rukyatul hilal conducted by the government through the isbat session. Eid al-Fitr 2025 also has different predictions, with Muhammadiyah setting the date for March 30, 2025, while the Ministry of Religious Affairs estimates March 31 or April 1, 2025.
In addition, a school holiday schedule has been set to support the implementation of Ramadan worship and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. As the holy month approaches, Muslims are urged to prepare themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually in order to carry out Ramadan worship optimally.
