2024 Christmas Joint Leave: Government Confirms There Will Be No Additional Joint Leave!

Government Confirms No Additional Joint Leave Days for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 Holidays

NOBARTV NEWS – The government has confirmed that there will be no additional joint leave for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays. This decision was confirmed by the Acting Deputy for Coordination of Improving the Quality of Education and Religious Moderation of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Warsito, in a Coordination Meeting on Readiness for Facing the Christmas and New Year Holidays at the STIK Auditorium of the National Police Education and Training Institute, Jakarta, Monday (16/12/2024).

Warsito said that despite various inputs from the public, including the proposal for joint leave on Friday, December 27, 2024, which is a “squeezed day,” the government has decided not to add joint leave.

"There is no additional shared leave this year. The total national collective leave has been set at 10 days, while private employees' annual leave entitlement in a year is only 12 days. Thus, there are only two days of annual leave left that can be taken flexibly," Warsito explained.

This decision was taken to maintain a balance between employees' annual leave rights and ensure that work productivity is maintained after the long holiday.

Determination of Joint Christmas Leave 2024

The government has set December 26, 2024 as a joint leave, one day after Christmas Day which falls on December 25. This determination is intended to provide additional time for Christians to celebrate Christmas with their families, while also accommodating time flexibility for homecoming and return trips.

Warsito added that the government hopes that the public can make the best use of this joint leave. "With the Christmas holiday already given, we hope that Christians can celebrate peacefully and the general public can enjoy the end of year holiday to the fullest." he said.

In the coordination meeting, Warsito also emphasized that the government's main focus during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays is to ensure the security of places of worship and smooth transportation on all land, sea and air routes.

"Places of worship need special attention so that Christians feel safe while worshiping. In addition, national routes will also be ensured of security with the support of facilities such as health services and the provision of clean water in rest areas if needed," added Warsito.

The government has also asked the ranks of the Regional Police Chiefs and regional heads to coordinate to manage traffic flow in their respective areas, especially in areas prone to congestion.

Carrying the tagline "Fun Christmas and New Year Holidays," the government hopes that services during the year-end holidays can run smoothly and have a positive impact on the community.

"All the services we provide are aimed at making people feel comfortable during their vacation. Hopefully, after the vacation is over, people's work productivity can increase.," said Warsito.

Peak Homecoming Flow Prediction

On the same occasion, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo explained the prediction regarding the peak of the homecoming flow during the Christmas and New Year holidays. According to him, the peak of the homecoming flow will occur in two large waves: on December 21, 2024 and December 28, 2024.

"The first peak is expected to occur on December 21, when school children start their holidays. The second wave will occur on December 28, approaching the turn of the year.," said the Chief of Police.

To anticipate the surge in homecoming traffic, the Chief of Police instructed all police ranks to carry out maximum security.

This coordination meeting was attended by various high-ranking officials from various ministries and institutions, including the Minister of Religion, Minister of Transportation, Minister of Public Works, Minister of Tourism, TNI Commander, Head of BNPB, Head of BMKG, Head of National Food Agency, Inspector General of the Ministry of Trade, Deputy of the National Search and Rescue Agency, as well as the President Directors of Pertamina, Jasa Raharja, and Jasa Marga.

With this inter-institutional synergy, the government is optimistic that the implementation of the Nataru holidays will be safe, comfortable and orderly.

The government's decision not to add joint leave for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays aims to maintain the balance of employees' annual leave rights and support community work productivity. The government's main focus is to ensure the safety and smoothness of travel during the Nataru holidays through coordination across ministries and institutions.

The public is urged to plan their trips well, avoid peak homecoming dates, and utilize services prepared by the government for the convenience of all. With the tagline "Libur Seru Nataru," it is hoped that this holiday moment can provide a positive experience for all Indonesian people.
