NOBARTV NEWS Garuda faces Bali United, the Indonesian National Team will conduct a trial before competing in the 2024 AFF Cup. The plan is for Shin Tae-yong's team to face the local team Bali United.
Since a few days ago, the Garuda squad that received a call to appear in the 2024 AFF Cup has arrived in Bali. In Bali, they are scheduled to conduct a training camp before finally participating in the biennial football event in Southeast Asia.
However, of the 33 names that were called up, some of them are still strengthening their respective clubs. However, the training camp still started with players who had already joined.
The plan is, during the training camp in Bali, the Garuda squad will participate in one trial match. The Garuda squad will face the local team Bali United. Through the training camp, STY wants to recruit its best players to be brought to the event. Because as is known, of the 33 names that received the call, it is true that some of them will be crossed off the list.
The trial match against Bali United is planned to be held on December 3.
"As discussed with Mr. Erick [Thohir], AFF is a big tournament and is also prepared for the sea games. These young players can help the team in the future," said Shin Tae-yong as reported by CNN Indonesia.
"Here until December 4 and December 3 against Bali United. After that back to Jakarta and leave on December 5," he added.
Interestingly, in the 2024 AFF Cup, Shin Tae-yong will field his young players. This means that of all the contestants taking part in the event, the Garuda squad has the youngest average age.
"As we know, we are playing against a national team [of players] who are all seniors. Only we are using U-22. But we will stay united and make something good," he concluded.
In the 2024 AFF Cup itself, the Garuda squad is included in group B with four other contestants. As for the match venue, the format used is round robin so that each team will host twice and be the away team twice.
