NOBARTV NEWS The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional General Election Commission (KPUD) as the election organizer has prepared a debate schedule for gubernatorial candidates (cagub) and deputy gubernatorial candidates (cawagub) who will compete in the NTB Pilkada in November 2024.
The NTB KPU has determined that there will be three debates for the gubernatorial candidates (cagub) and deputy gubernatorial candidates (cawagub) in the upcoming NTB Pilkada.
"We, the Provincial KPU, have agreed that we will hold the debate three times," said NTB KPU Chairman Muhammad Khuwailid to the media crew.
According to information conveyed by the NTB KPU Chairman, the first debate will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the Lombok Raya Mataram Hotel. The first debate will reportedly be broadcast live by a national television station.
The second and third debates will be held in November. They are: the second debate on November 8, 2024 and the third debate will be held on November 20, 2024.
There is no further information yet whether the second and third debates will also be broadcast by national television stations or only local TV stations.
Regarding the debate theme, the KPU said it was still in the process of being refined and formulated by an independent team appointed by the NTB KPU.
"The debate theme is still being formulated. So it will be formulated by the formulation team," said Khuwailid further.
3 Candidate Pairs for NTB Gubernatorial Election
The NTB Gubernatorial Election (Pilgub) will be contested by 3 candidate pairs (paslon). They are Sitti Rohmi Djalilah-Musyafirin (Rohmi-Firin) who received ballot number 1, Zulkieflimansyah-Suhaili FT (Zul-Uhel) with ballot number 2, and Lalu Muhammad Iqbal-Indah Damayanti (Iqbal-Dinda) with ballot number 3.
Sitti Rohmi Djalilah is the Deputy Governor of NTB for the 2018-2023 period. In the 2024 NTB Pilkada, Rohmi decided to run as a gubernatorial candidate supported by a coalition of political parties such as the PDI Perjuangan, the National Awakening Party (PKB), Perindo, and the Crescent Star Party (PBB).
Meanwhile, Zulkieflimansyah is the incumbent candidate who served as Governor of NTB for the 2018-2023 period. In this election, he split with Rohmi who was previously his deputy. Zul-Uhel is supported by PKS, the Democratic Party, and the NasDem Party.
Meanwhile, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal is a former Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey. His last position was spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu). He is running supported by parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) such as the Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, PAN, PPP, and other parties.
Latest Survey Results: Ummi Rohmi Leads
Based on the latest Poltracking survey results, pair number 1 Rohmi-Firin is ahead with an electability of 33,5 percent. Superior to the other two competitors.
Rohmi is the first female gubernatorial candidate in NTB. And if she is elected as governor, she will automatically become the first woman to occupy the NTB 1 seat.
Among the factors that determine the electability of the woman who is familiarly called Ummi Rohmi is because she has a strong and deep-rooted traditional voter base.
Ummi Rohmi is the granddaughter of national hero TGKH Zainuddin Abdul Majid. She is the founder of the Nahdlatul Wathan (NW) organization which is the largest religious organization in NTB.
Apart from that, Ummi Rohmi is also the Chancellor of Hamzanwadi University, which is one of the best private universities in West Nusa Tenggara.
