PSSI is not targeting Indonesia to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, this is the reason!

NOBARTV.CO.ID World Cup 2026 is not a target PSSI, Shin Tae-yong has extended his contract with PSSI. However, it turns out that even though contract has been pressed, it turns out – Shin is not targeted to bring the National Team Indonesia pass to 2026 World Cup.

World Cup 2022 bring up champion new from America Latin. After the last time Brazil became champions in the five-yearly football event in 2002, now – deny other Latin American origins namely Argentina officially emerged as champions again in 2022. In 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018 – the team from Europe as champions. And in 2022, as mentioned earlier, the Latin American team became champions again.

In 2026, the world's biggest football event will be held again. This time, three countries - United States of America, Canadaand Mexico will be the master Rumah together. And yesterday, Shin Tae-yong – the coach has extended his new contract with the Indonesian National Team. This contract extension was given inseparable from the good performance of the coach in two events, namely Asian Cup 2023 day U23 Asian Cup 2024. Dalam kedua even tersebut, STY berhasil membawa anak asuhnya lolos dari group phase.

But the funny thing is, after extending his contract yesterday, PSSI apparently did not give STY a high target for the 2026 World Cup. The Indonesian football federation did not give Shin Tae-yong a target to get his team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. In fact, currently, they are on the right track. This means that the Garuda squad still has a chance to qualify and make history in the most prestigious football event.

Considering that the contract was given until 2027, then logically, Shin should be given the burden of being able to carry Ivar Jenner et al appeared. But it turns out, after further investigation, PSSI has its own reasons behind its decision not to burden the coach.

This was conveyed by Salah one member Exco PSSI Arya Sinulingga. Rather than asking the Garuda squad to qualify for the World Cup, PSSI prefers to target Shin to be able to bring the Garuda squad into the top 100 FIFA. For your information, the Indonesian National Team squad is currently ranked 134th.

"There is no [target to qualify for the World Cup]. Like this, if the target is for the coach himself, we hope to reach 100 [FIFA Ranking] that's it," said Arya.

However, said Arya, PSSI certainly hopes that Shin can bring Marcelino Ferdinand et al to appear in the event. But that (qualifying for the World Cup) was not targeted in the contract agreement that was signed some time ago.

"If this one [World Cup], yes, we definitely hope to enter. Is that target not included in our contract, but if we want to pass round 3 or through the world selection, yes, this is what we hope for, not to the playoffs. Yes, we hope for round 4. It is indeed 3-4. The three opponents in the group were regulars from the World Cup. These three [Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia]," continued the right hand man. Erick That Thohir.

"Meanwhile, how many people qualify [directly for the World Cup] in round three? Two. This means that only those who subscribe can't get through to round three. One definitely doesn't pass. No way, maybe not. That's for sure. So yes, you already know that this group is really tough. But we have nothing to lose. Don't be a heavy burden. "Realistic, but we are fighting tooth and nail," he concluded.
